it says on his wikipedia page that after he, brian, and roger sang "No one but you," and i guess a few other things, he decided to call it quits, to not let "the show go on," not with him anyway. (that's why it's basically just brian and roger now.) they did find a new bassist easily when Queen + Paul Rodgers was formed. john deacon quit queen for emotional reasons, so says wikipedia. (i guess i don't blame him, but for a shy bassist, he should have carried on with the band in honor of freddie, instead of just quitting because he's gone.) he's got 4 kids and a wife (the reason why he wrote "You're My Best Friend") to tend to anyway.
i think that john didn't like being famous but he loved the people/audience. I have heard his fame made him depressed but i don't know. all that is known is that he loved his family and friends and wanted to proctet them from his fame. he is now a sort of busines man i think. many people change career so john changed career after leaving Queen but of course he could do a YouTube video for his fans or write something on his website. He could actually record an instrumental song and spread world peace and still live his secluded life.
