So he kills a bunch of school kids in the gym, which isnt explained properly in the film iI don't think (check out the bookk, it's amazing!) and then he goes to prison, which you see in earlier bits of the film. At the end, Eva asks him why he did it, and he says
"I used to think I knew, not I'm not so sure."
It's all very emotional and they hug, really tightly and properly. It happens when Eva is visiting him and his two year "anniversary", and he is about to be transferred to adult prison.
