Why would running lights and lower brake lights and parking lights on Subaru Impreza Outback not work when headlights and hazards and turn lights and upper brake lights do?
I have run into the same thing with this kind of car. On the steering column at the top they have a switch that will turn the running lights on or turn them off. check the switch you may have hit it and turn it on.

Dirty or loose battery cables: Clean and tighten cables as required. 4. Problem in the charging system: Test and repair charging system as required. 5. Could be your park/neutral switch try putting the car into neutral and and then starting it.

It is cheaper to turn lights off. You can check by having one person outside at the electric meter. See what happens when you turn off the florescent lights. See what happens when you turn them on. Does the meter speed up? If is speeds up does it speed up more than enough to make up for the time the lights were off? Write it up for a science project.

Brake lights and turn signals are on a separate circuit from the tail lights. Tail lights are on the same circuit with the dashboard lights. If the dashboard lights aren't working either, check the fuse. If they ARE working, check the headlight switch.

your battery is probably dead...., if when you turn the key and nothing happens at all...your battery is probably dead... Solution: Well, it turns out it was my ignition switch. That was my first guess. Im glad i went with it.
