Outside of Paris and the music world- she was very much unique- in a sense like Sinatra in being a very individual character. Unlike Sinatra- as far as I know she never acted either on stage or in the movies- night club performances do not count here. Almost a half-century after her death- there is still a demand for her records- as is the case with Garland. Garland, however did considerable movie work- from Oz to entirely different dramas such as the Judgement at Nuremburg. Piaf was a singer- a torch singer of high caliber- but NOT an actress.
