IF the question above about bobs real name is understood to mean anyone whose name is bob, the answer is his given birth name is often, at least in New Zealand: "Robert". "Bob" has other meanings as in certain toyshops "Bob" is a fictional man who likes to build things. The toys are often called "Bob the builder".

Robert is the usual answer, yet, these days at least in New Zealand, people are making up new names and giving their babies names like "Bob" instead of "Robert".

I'm uncertain about if the word "bob" and "Robert" in foreign lands, our dialect is different sometimes and yet the same sometimes when comparing the USA and New Zealand vocabulary.
