Frerard started when Gerard & Frank started kissing and flirting onstage to challenge homophobia within crowds at punk shows, mainly the crowds at Warped tour 2004/2005. Gerard said in a Rock Sound interview that the band decided to start pushing the sexuality boundaries after they saw another band ridiculing an audience member for wearing eyeliner at Warped tour but wouldn't say the name of the band (most likely Fat Mike from NOFX). Fans who found the onstage antics funny/exciting started jokey rumours that Frank & Gerard were in a relationship and this began the fanfiction on forums and other sites. But there is no evidence that Frank & Gerard were ever in a relationship or that either of them are homosexual or bisexual (both are currently married to women).

From the searching I have done, alot people are saying Frerard was not real. It was apparently just on-stage flirting but nothing more. As Frank Iero said: 'Gerard and I aren't gay, we just like to play around. Blowjobs aren't gay.' Alot of fans still believe in Frerard but I know that noth Frank and Gerard are happily married, (Frank to Jamia, Gerard to Lyn-z), and both have children of their own. I guess it's only Frank and Gee themselves who know the truth, and that, I expect, is how it shall stay.

I'm not exactly sure when "Ferard" actually happened (or if it actually happened for that matter, I think it was just an on-stage kissing thing that they were doing for a while.) But if it did actually happen, depending on when it happened, it was either Bert from The Used, or Gerard or Frank's wife (They are both married to ladies now) and Gerard even has a daughter! (He's such a good dad! His daughter apparently loves a kids show called "Yo Gabba Gabba" and he wanted to get My Chem to do a kiddie-friendly song for it! That's so cute, right? XD)
