Since Bambi was Walt Disney's favorite film, I would say it was a deer.

With all due respect, it's pretty difficult to get him to answer this personally, as he passed away in December of 1966. The answer doesn't seem to be explicitly stated in his Wikipedia biographical profile, but I believe that it would have to be a mouse, originally named Mortimer and ultimately named Mickey, whose popularity launched the commercial successes of Disney's enterprises and whose very creation also gained Disney his first "Honorary Academy Award" in 1932.
