A French Horn is a musical instrument in the brass section. You make sounds by buzzing your lips in the mouthpiece, similar to all other brass instruments. (The Saxophone is not a brass instrument. Even though it looks metallic, it is a woodwind.)

The French Horn looks like a snail, it is circular in appearance. It is basically made of a 12 feet long metallic tubing, wound into a circle.

The French Horn is usually in the F key, which is why they are also called "F Horn." There are also "double horns," where you have an additional valve that switches the horn to the B flat key. Double horns allow a more accurate pitch overall, since some notes are more accurate on the F horn, and others are more accurate on the B flat horn. Double horns also allow variety in fingering.
