What is a goal for a Muslim after they die?

A Muslim's goal after they die is for God to be pleased with them so that they would be rewarded by Heaven instead of punished by hell.

God is forgiving and merciful, if you sincerely repent you will be forgiven.

This life is a test from God. If you follow God's teachings you will pass.

18:7 Indeed, We have made that which is on the earth adornment for it that We may test them as to which of them is best in deed

This is a pretty open question, people can answer many different things.

Things that come to mind are:

Body: We have a responsibility to take care of it. i.e. keep it from harm, eat right, don't be sedentary/lazy. This means suicide isn't allowed despite what some believe. But if you do die fighting for your people (because you were killed, not killed yourself) then you are honored.

We also believe one of the questions that will be asked to us on the day of judgment is "How did you take care of your body?"

Soul: It is with us, human or animal. And leaves our body after death. We also have a responsibility to take care of our soul. This is done by doing anything Islamic, including taking care of your body! But mainly prayer, fasting, giving charity, ect :)

The feature that is trotted out from time to time is the bevy of 50 (or is it 70) virgins awaiting the martyr after death. This promise is used to encourage suicide bombers.

The soul is connected between you and god personally, nobody else. Also the soul reaches salvation when Jesus comes back to earth.
