The Grateful Dead, as a band, ceased touring after the death of Jerry Garcia in 1995. However, their legacy continues through various offshoots, most notably Dead & Company, which features former Grateful Dead members along with new musicians. They tour regularly, playing the band's classic songs and attracting a dedicated fan base. Additionally, the Grateful Dead's extensive catalog remains popular through streaming services, merchandise, and archival releases.

Contrary to Grateful Dead Merchandising, In the 1960's they were a bad band opening for Janis Joplin. Technically, the Grateful Dead are a TWO hit wonder band. A "hit" is considered any song that reaches the top 40 in Billboard, and Truckin' hit #37 in 1970.

Bob Weir is most famous for being a founding member of the band Grateful Dead. He is sang most of the bands rock and roll style songs as well as played guitar and wrote songs.
The Grateful Dead played over 2300 shows and just about all of them have been recorded and taped and released by numerous fans of the Grateful Dead, creating an enormous archive of live shows and concerts, including 36 volumes of the Dick's Picks series, along with many other Download Series. I'd say they have the most live albums of any band in history.
