U have your high-hat (that's the two cymbals with a foot pedal), then there is the crash cymbal, normally they're around 16 to 20 inches, then the large ride cymbal (used for a lot of metal and jazz drumming), there are also china cymbals and splash cymbals. China cymbals are a harsh sounding effect cymbal that basically look like they are inside out and splash cymbals are a very small sized cymbal used for effects as well.
Hope this helped.

How many cymbals do you need for a drum set?

Not if you're ordering a brand new set from the manufacturer. The drums and the cymbals are made by 2 separate companies. Maybe if you went on eBay or a similar auction site there would be a used set for sale that came with cymbals. Or if you were buying them from a music store you could order the cymbals at the same time as the set. But they still didn't come with the drums.

Which kind of musical notes do China cymbals produce?

China cymbals are popular in the rock genre and its many sub-genres. The cymbals have garnered the nickname "trash cymbals." This is not due to the cymbals being worthless, but because they create such dark and explosive notes. They are called "China" cymbals because their sound can be similar to that of a Chinese gong.

What does a drum set look like and how is it typically set up for a performance?

A drum set typically consists of a bass drum, snare drum, tom-toms, cymbals, and hi-hat cymbals. It is set up with the bass drum on the floor, the snare drum between the legs, and the other drums and cymbals arranged around the drummer.
