To understand Indian Classical Music (ICM), one needs a high level of meditation. In Indian Classical Music, a student worships Brahm Naad, the sound of almighty GOD. It is actually the presentation of different moods and feelings. A student gets his inner (soul) and self-realization which is the ultimate goal of one's life. When a student learns Indian Classical Music, he becomes a devotee and the devotion and dedication are the keys of success in learning ICM. Explaining the theories is not just a matter one can find them in any of the books, but even then we will put a light on that. ICM is difficult to be explained in words because its a subject of our feelings. God is infact a feeling, one can never find sufficient words to explain God. Music infact enlightens a path to self-realization, which is inturn a path to GOD. Well ! lets have an overview of ICM theory. ICM has two basic components: 1. Swar (Notes) 2. Taal (Rhythm) These two components together constitutes Ragaas in a unique fashion. Each Raga is related to particular time, particular notes and specially a particular feeling/mood. There are many Ragas in ICM with different restrictions and rules. You can learn much more about ICM @ Devashram Music. All the best !!
If by "Swar" you mean swear, then he does it because it's who he is. I mean there are people who swear and some that don't :)
