The cardinal virtues, which are gifts of God, are faith, hope, and charity. Only charity (love) lasts (into heaven) as God, Himself, IS charity. from The Catechism of the Catholic Church, second edition, English translation 19941822 Charity is the theological virtue by which we love god above all things for his own sake, and our neighbor as ourselves for the love of God.1823 Jesus makes charity the new commandment.
