Along with spirituals, (work songs-early blues) the blues is considered the Musical root of African Americans. They played the blues in theirfree timewhen the slaves were not working. The blues is an emotional music, either happy or sad-it expresses strong feelings and emotion towards something or someone, and is the musical taste of freedom.
