There isn't really an 'average salary.' It takes a while for the average person to become a 'professional.' The vast, vast majority start out taking what they can, usually having some sort of day job. Eventually, you'll get enough credits to join the Screen Actors Guild, in which case you will be paid based on their guidelines (which vary according to the budget of the project, and the type of project). Unless you're a principal actor on a recurring TV show, few actors obviously get a regular "salary." http://www.entertainmentcareers.net/acting/sag_rates.asp If you're hired on a project for a couple of days, you will be a 'day performer' making a minimum 655.00/day. (A % of which might go to an agent or manager if they got you the job). Weekly rate (longer term) minimum is $2272.00/week. Extras make between $100-150/day. Unfortunately, until you're mega famous, you will spend a majority of your time LOOKING for work and a fraction of your year actually working. Three days @ $655 might be the only money you see for 6 months. The main variable in all of this is your talent and your craft, which have to be cultivated. If you have to get a day job, make sure you're a professional actor and an amateur waiter, not the other way around.
