A king who sets his daughters against him and ultimately loses all when he, out of a desire and need to feel loved, asks them to each explain why they love him more than the others
After cruelly clawing his way to power, a king is haunted by those he has harmed along the way and realizes he has lost everything.
A tragic hero is someone who's actions where heroic despite a bad outcome. A good example of tragic hero's are the soldiers who were defeated at the Alamo, they knew they were outnumbered and that defeat was inevitable but they stayed and fought bravely anyways. They could have fled or surrendered. Generally the same factors as ordinary heroism are what makes one a tragic hero. There is nothing heroic about Jimi Hendrix. Despite his success as a musician he died at his own hand, a result of a drug overdose. It does not make him a tragic hero because he was not a hero to begin with and there is nothing heroic about dying from drug use. A tragic death does not make someone a hero.
modern
Yeah he is a tragic hero. He was a great hero to a lot because he proved anything is possible. However, he met his downfall sort of after encore, when he left rap, and had depression and i think drug abuse. He sort of kept goin thru problems and until i heard relapse thot he was never gunna come back. Recover is hot, but marshall mathers by far makes me think he is a hero

A tragic hero- APEX
An epic hero is based on the Epic Tradition found firstly in the Epic of Gilgamesh, written in 2300 BC. He is usually a fearsome, strong warrior; always holds a position of power, such as Gilgamesh is a king, Beowulf is a leader of men then a king; he usually has some kind of religion; he learns something after completing a great journey; he is always concerned with his own mortality.A Tragic Hero was created by Shakespeare; he is the example of the 'human hero', for example 'Othello'. A tragic hero represents a human at his best, either as a leader of an army, a king, etc, but through the course of the narrative falls from grace. It is the concept that our human flaws (Greed, fear, jealousy) bring our downfall.(English BA Degree student)

Yes, George is considered a tragic hero in "Of Mice and Men". He is a character with good intentions but ultimately faces a tragic fate as a result of external circumstances beyond his control. His decision to euthanize Lennie, his companion, is a key aspect of his tragic hero status.
In his "Poetics," Aristotle explains that a tragic hero is going to evoke in the viewer (or spectator) either great pity or great fear, due to the tragic circumstances in which the hero is involved. Such heroes will occupy noble or otherwise prominent positions in life or society and, most importantly, will contribute to their own downfall through a personal flaw of some kind. For example, the tragic hero, Oedipus, had the tragic flaw of pride (perhaps also a severe temper).
