What is the best way to fix scratched Lp records?

As a kid, in the 60's and 70's, I would fix everyones scratched 45's by gently pressing and holding the needle or stylus in the spot on the record where the scratch occurs. I would go over the same scratched spot of the record, and repress the groove until the skips or scratch clears. I know this sounds crazy, but it always worked. You must have a gentle touch when you repress the groove.

i have personally fixed many of my records that were scratched an absolutely unplayable... play the record on your turntable and carefully run a sewing need over the scratched groove. IT WORKS WITHOUT DAMAGING THE LP IF YOU DO THIS CAREFULLY!!

RECORD MAY STILL POP.. BUT A SINGLE POP IS BETTER THAN AN UNPLAYABLE LOOPING OR SKIPPING RECORD!!

Plain and simple - you can't. :( This is why it's so important to take extra special care of your records from day one.

That scratched up copy of Pink Floyd's Animals that you picked up at Goodwill? Or that box of old polka records and Hawaiian music that your grandma gave you?

Sorry. Every pop & click that's there from scratches is permanent.

You CAN, however, clean your records to ensure that there is as little popping & clicking from dirt and dust as possible.

yes some can be removed but it depends how deap they are.
