The leal responsibilities of a company are spelled out in various ordinances and regulations. For example, a company is prohibited from dumping toxic waste on the ground or into waterways; rather, they are required to dispose of toxic waste in an approved manner. Social responsibilities are chosen by a company in an effort to be a good neighbor and provide some benefit to the local community or some worthwhile cause. A company may organize a highway clean-up project, or support some charitable organization via fund raising drives and contribution matching or take it upon themselves to be more "green" (reduce energy consumption, use recycled materials or reduce pollution more than required by law).
