Apatosaurus was a sauropod, a large, quadrupedal plant eater with a long neck and a tiny head. Because paleontologists aren't sure how high they held their heads, it is unknown what types of plants they ate. Plants that existed at the same time and place as Apatosaurus include conifers, cycads, ginkgoes, ferns, and horsetails.

Triceratops had a battery of teeth for chewing and probably ate fibrous plants, perhaps palms, cycads, or ferns. They could have even been capable of pushing over trees to eat leaves that were otherwise out of reach.
