A huge amount of music is structured around periods (segments) that are 8 measures in length, particularly standard songs. Pick virtually any nursery song, or standard song that you might know. Most church hymns will do. If you count out measures as you hum the melody, you will almost always find that there is an underlying structure built on 8. While they do exist, you may find it a challenge to find songs that are NOT structured this way, at least in part. This is part of the heritage of western musics, and is not a standard part of many non-western musics.
