What is the meaning of the song breathe by Anna Nalick?

The song is about how each of us makes the same mistakes, goes through crisis after crisis, but no matter how desperate we might feel or how it all seems hopeless, sometimes all can do is calm down, take a deep breath ("and breathe... just breathe") and get back out there to try again. It was used as background to a very moving episode of Gray's Anatomy, about the difficult choices we all have to make in life.

Each verse is about a situation that took an emotional toll: verse one, a friend of hers calls her at 2AM and talks about having to go to a clinic (perhaps for an abortion), and feeling like people are passing judgment on her; verse two is about a guy who is an alcoholic but someone (perhaps the singer?) can't help loving him even though he may break her heart; and verse three, the singer talks about how she is writing about her own personal tragedy and the lyrics demand to come out, even if they leave he feeling vulnerable. She uses metaphors like "life's like an hourglass glued to a table"-- we get a certain amount of time, and before it runs out, we need to use it the best we can. Breathing is a prayer. It's really relevant. It's got like multi-meanings, especially for right now and everything that's happenning, you know - It can be like a spiritual song. Obviously it's a love song, but to me it's a prayer. Even in the verses it talks about finding your way back to sanity, and to me that represents just not really knowing where you're going, but just being content with asking and in the journey. This is another love song that can be interpreted in a couple of different ways. The verses say. 'I'm finding my way back to sanity again.' So it's like trying really hard and then getting back to the place you started from. Then the bridge says 'I don't want a thing from you / Bet you're tired of me waiting for the scarps to fall off of your table to the ground.' It's kind of like not wanting anything from anyone, not hanging on every word they say and just having faith you'll be able to 'be here now,' which is how the song ends.

Basically, it's about a girl that she was close friends with. The girl turned out to not be such a good friend. So Taylor had to tell her that she couldn't be friends with her anymore. It was hard for Taylor, because she thought that she couldn't breathe without her.
