There are many ways to interpret a garden.

  1. They can share the same archetypal meaning as trees which learning, knowledge, and life.
  2. If it is known that the garden is enclosed by a fence, it could be a symbol of domestication and civilization.
  3. It could show that man has taken over nature and changed it to please him, which eludes to the never ending struggle between man and nature, which you can research on your own.
The difference between a garden and a forest should be noted because archetypally, a forest means evil, lost, fear, mystery, andconcealment.
