In a way I'm answering my own question. It"s a religious song, but it not a Black Spiritual or Gospel song, as I thought. The title , which is ungrammatical in English, ( I used to call it a Bright Appearance) was some sort of undefined natural or supernatural image or spectacle. It is not described in detail but is obviously not a rainbow ( enough songs have been done on that one) unusual sunset or something mundane. It is indeed mysterious. the song has only one verse. It was written by Charles Gounod of France, well known for religious music - and an occult Opera! Still in the dark about Lovely Appear. Beautiful song, but one wonders what the object was.
