It could be continuous downwards strumming (DDDDDDDD), or it could be DDUUDU.
That is pretty much it. You will need to play each guitar with a different style as acoustic is more strumming patterns. Generally, acoustics have thicker strings too.
Learn some basic chords and practice strumming. Listen to rhythm guitar parts and try to figure out what strumming pattern they're using. Then practice. Once you get your strumming hand going don't stop.
