The name of a mini flute instrument is called a piccolo.

my name is hi-low, piccolo, piccalo hi low hi lo piccalo piccalo no name
You absolutely can! The flute and piccolo are in the same key (the key of C) so you can definitely use a flute book or sheet music to play the piccolo. The only differences you will find is that the piccolo is an octave higher, and the keys are closer together, but with practice, it will be similar. A fun fact for you-- the piano is also in the key of C (I believe) so you can also play piano music on your flute or piccolo. I have done this, and the only semi-difficult thing is that when the piano score has chords, you have to choose which part of the chord you will play. If you have other flautists with you, you can each play a different part of the chord, and it sounds beautiful. Or, if you don't mind transposing the music for different instruments, and you have friends that play different instruments, you can play a beautiful duet, trio, quartet, etc. with your friends!
It depends: A rotary piccolo is held differently; with a finger hook for your left hand little finger and a thumb grip. Your right hand has another finger hole but is used only for page turns. A normal pic is held with two fingers of the left hand wrapped around the valve casing and the other two around the third valve slide. On the right hand, your little finger goes under the fourth valve or in the finger hook, and your thumb wherever feels comfortable resting against the first valve casing.
C, same as the flute
Concert Flute is in the C Key
The Soprillo piccolo saxophone is a transposing instrument in the key of Bb. Same as the tenor sax.
Every scale can be played on bother the flute and the piccolo. On the flute you can play the A, A flat, B, B flat, D, G, F sharp, and F two octaves. For the C and the D flat there are three that can be played without a Low B key. If you have a low B key, you can play the B scale three octaves. On the piccolo it is the same (minus there is no such thing as a low B key for a piccolo) and the C and high d flat thrid octaves take a lot of effort and practice to get out.
