If the writer used words like 'sweet' or a trope like 'sailing far on the breeze of their love', then this would be figurative speech. It is not. The confusion comes from the non-standard grammar - perhaps a form of African American English - and none the worse for that! These words communicate these thoughts and feelings just right!
