-- 'Destructive interference' (cancellation, out-of-phase addition, even-Fresnel-boundary reflection)

between the direct signal and a reflected copy of it, both arriving at your receiver. If that's the problem,

it goes away when you move a small distance ... as little as a few feet in the case of FM or TV.
