There are different kinds of music. Music that is used in large public gatherings and has beats and rhythms in it that are sexual, are harem. There is plenty of music that uplifts the soul such as Classical Music which can promote relaxation that is not harem but therapeutic according to many scholars.

Because listening to songs in Ramadan will waste a lot of time that you can use to read qur'an or pray more .

it's not the notion that songs are forbidden nor that they are wrong thing..not at all.it's just that Ramadan comes once a year and a person needs to take advantage of it as much as possible. we never know if we r going to catch the next Ramadan.

As far as I know, The Prophet Mohammed wrote that the human voice was the sound that pleased Allah the most. There are no instruments used in Islamic Worship. If I am not accurate in saying this, I ask Islamics who read this to forgive me and correct me.

Technically Muslims aren't supposed to listen to 'music' per se. However, they do listen to Qur'aan reading, hadith, speeches, prayers and 'songs' that are praises to their god, Allah.
