Double Bass. its just a bass but the call it a double* so it is not mixed up with the Bass Guitar.
The viola is both larger than the violin and smaller than the cello.
In the violin family, the next in pitch above the cello is the viola. The cello is the bass of the violin family. The violin itself is the soprano, and the alto is the viola. There have been tenors made of this family from time to time, but they are not in any way standard instruments and are usually called by the name tenor violin.
The string instrument that is bigger than a violin but smaller than a cello is called a viola. It typically has a larger body than a violin, which contributes to its deeper, richer sound, but it is not as large as a cello. Violas are commonly used in orchestras and chamber music ensembles, typically tuned a fifth lower than violins.
It depends on what cello you mean. Dimensions of cellos tend to vary from instrument to instrument. It also depends on what size the cello is, and what maker it has. I know, for instance, that my cello is a lot wider than other cellos classified in the same size.
The string instrument between a violin and a cello in size is called a viola. It is bigger than a violin, and deeper in sound. It also reads in a different clef- violins read in the treble clef, and violas red in the alto clef.
