Who influeces Bob Marley?

The transistor radio came when Marley was a child, and he could tune in black radio stations ii Florida and New Orleans, and listen to American artists like Fats Domino, Ray Charles, Curtis Mayfield and Brook Benton. When Marley, Peter Tosh and the other teenagers in the vocal group The Wailers were employees of Studio One in the 60's they were tasked to listen to countless recordings of American soul and blues artists. The aim was to become inspired for songwriting and learning harmonies. It is difficult to single out any particular American singer. In Jamaica they received singing lessons by singer Joe Higgs in the evening. Higgs has meant a lot to Marley. Religious has the Rastafarian teacher Mortimer Planno had the same importance. When reggae came around 1968 all young artists in Jamaica influenced each other. The music was new and unique. There was Toots Hibbert & The Maytals, Jimmy Cliff, Max Romeo, etc. It was not until now Marley learned to play the guitar, and Planno was one of his teachers. Bob Marley collaborated closely with Lee "Scratch" Perry - one of the creators of reggae music - for about seven months. When Marley, Tosh and Bunny Wailer left Perry after a dispute, they "stole" the Barrett brothers from Perry's studio band The Upsetters. Bassist Aston Barrett and drummer Carlton Barrett has meant a tremendous lot to Marley's special, unique reggae sound in the 1970s. This can not be emphasized enough. I personally don't believe that Marley had become the reggae king without Aston and Carlton Barrett, and other brilliant musicians he put together in his band The Wailers. Carlton Barrett was the one who invented it the typical one drop reggae sound. But maybe Marley influenced himself most of all. He was unique.
