Paula Abdul was born to Jewish parents whose father was a Syrian Jew immigrant to the US and mother being a Canadian Jew. She was influenced and brought up with Jew as her religion of choice and practices Judaism to the present day. She grew up in the San Fernando Valley, California. She began taking dance lessons at age eight and attended Van Nuys High School, where she was senior class president, an honor student and head cheerleader. Paula studied at the California State University at Northridge majoring in television and radio.
