It depends on what you are recording. If you are a band, you will probably need your instruments. Some studios may have instruments for you to use as well, but those are generally for a certain tone, or something to try if the sound out of your instrument isn't quite right. If you are just a singer, you would probably want to bring your backing tracks to sing along to. Usually this can be anything from a CD to mp3 player, but you should contact the studio before hand to make sure they have the gear needed.

Most importantly, bring the check. You probably can't record without paying first.

Aside from that, you're probably all set. If its going to be a long session, you may want something to read or things like that. A lot of times a track will need overdubs done and this will leave some band members with nothing to do except sit around and wait. Also if you want any beer or 'herbal supplements' for your session you will need to bring those.
