What you wear to an interview will depend entirely upon the job you are applying for. If you are applying for an office based role it will generally most appropriate to wear a clean well pressed suit and shirt (white is often best for interviews) and polished shoes. (Women should avoid sandles, flip-flops and stick to court shoes or similar). If the job is a trade or outdoor role then this may not be so suitable. If you have found the role via a recruitment agency or job centre you should ask them what they advise you should wear - they will know the company and what the expectations are. Otherwise you should look at what current employees/managers where to work at the company (if you can - this is not always easy) and take this as a guide. It is always advisable to dress according to the role above the one you want - to give the impression of more than capable of the role.
