This is not exactly the case. In the US the only dangerously venomous scorpion is the Bark Scorpion, which tends to be on the small end of the scale. It is only dangerous to the very young, the infirm and the very old. If you are stung by a scorpion it is not a bad idea to have it checked out if you have anything except a local reaction. These stings are quite painful and will cause redness and swelling as well. If you have any shortness of breath, muscle twiches in areas away from the sting and/or facial swelling you should seek medical assistance.
