Wonder was born Stevland Hardaway Judkins , and his mother changed his name to Stevland Hardaway Morris when she remarried . One day when he was performing for his friends , Ronnie White of The Miracles saw him and was amazed by his musical talents . White brought him to Motown founder Berry Gordy , who signed him immediately and gave him the new name " Little Stevie Wonder " ( he dropped the " Little " when he grew up ) because of his incredible musical talents .
