Entertainment in the 1800s varies slightly depending on a variety of factors: social class, gender, and location. Your social position within society could, and would, deem the amount of money you for entertainement. It could affect who you're allowed to socialize with as well as what activities you may engage in. Gender also plays are large role; it was considered uncivilized for people to do certain tasks that belonged to the other gender. For example, women would not be found, in good pretense, at a saloon. With that being said, some of the most common activities that occupied the bodies of the 1800s are: sports, drinking, social gatherings, balls, small meetings with friends (often over tea, women) religious gatherings, galas, and hootenannies.
Romantic period music had many emotions including patriotic feelings. Composers such as Franz Peter Schubert, Robert Schumann, Frédéric François Chopin, Johann Strauss II, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Giuseppe Fortunino Francesco Verdi, Wilhelm Richard Wagner were popular during this period.
They had various forms of entertainment. This would include concerts, plays, the Opera, and at times there may have been carnivals with jousting tournaments and other enjoyment.

Beethoven's music changed throughout his career. There were three periods to his compositions; the early period, the middle period, and the romantic period. During the early period, he learned the classical style of music, and his pieces during this time (in Bonn) reflect this. When he went to Vienna, his compositions began to become more original. In the Middle period, his compositions brought out the bass parts to make his music feel dark. The Romantic period came about because of Beethoven. He filled the gap between the Classical era and the Romantic era. His work was known as the "radical departure from the past."
