Actually we may never know. There where some attempts to broadcast entertainment as early as 1910. Previously to that Marconi had installed radios on several ships, but they where of the Morse type, meant to have only one receiver.
The general public had to construct their own radios, since búying them was very expensive (could cost up to 3 weeks of wages). Fortuneatly building a simple crystal-radio could be done for schollboys wages. 2 or three components where nedded plus the obligatory 800 ohms (or so) headphones. The most important components was a catwhisker of coiled wire and a piece of Galena crystal that could be easily found in a slag-heap of any lead mine. No batteries where required since the power came from the signal itself, therefore the 800 or so ohms headphones.

The frequency on the radio dial doesn't tell us the power the station is using to transmit. There may be an AM radio station at any spot on the dial that is transmitting at any power level between, maybe, 10 watts and 50,000 watts. That decision is made when the radio station applies for its license, and the license to operate is granted.
It means that the radio station transmits on a carrier frequency of 103.6 MHz,and that if the 'dial' on your FM radio is properly calibrated, then you'll receivethat station best when you adjust your radio to indicate '103.6'.By the way... no legal FM station will ever say that, at least not in the USA, becauseall licensed FM broadcast stations in the US transmit on carrier frequencies that havean odd number after the decimal point. They can be on 103.5 or 103.7, but neveron 103.6 .
The first public television station was set up by the newly formed BBC. Not only was it the first television station in the UK, it was indeed the first in the world. The system in use was developed by John Logie Baird who first demonstrated it in 1925 and 1926. It was a black and white image and made up of just 30 lines. In1937, the first public broadcasts were started in the US. Only two years later the BBC ceased television broadcasts at the beginning of the Second World War leaving the US as the only major broadcaster for a number of years.
The first US space station was named Skylab. It was launched by NASA in 1973 and remained in orbit until 1979.
Any AM radio you can buy in the US will play every AM radio station in the US, and any FM radio you can buy in the US will play every FM radio station in the US. You just have to be close enough to the station you want it to play.
The US research station there is named McMurdo Station.
