Minerature Pinchers and Manchester Terriers are intirely different breeds with the MT being very much the older of the two. MinPins have a very level back with a forward set front assembly which is what gives them the 'hackney' gait that is a hall mark of the breed. They have docked ears and docked tails and can be black and tan or solid red. They tend to be very, very active dogs with a limited attention span and are often thought to be difficult to train. They are quite noisy. Manchester Terriers come in two Varieties; Toys cannot weigh over twelve pounds, Standards weigh between twelve and twenty two. Toys MUST have a naturally upright ear. Standards may be docked or button eared as well as the naturally standing ear you see on the Toy. The tail is never docked. The topline of the Manchester must show a slight rise over the loin. The front assembly should be well set and the shoulder laid back to encourage a solid, working trot without any hint of a hackney motion. The head should be a blunt wedge from every angle and well filled under the almond shaped eye. Smart easily trained dogs that make good preformance dogs and/or pets.
