I saw an interview with Ben and he said he had not drank in 8 months (the interview was in October 2007). He said he has drank enough for 5 peoples lifetimes. So he did in fact drink.
"Clean and Sober" does not mean just drinking. The Breaking Benjamin web page states he wanted to make sure people didn't think the cancelled shows had anything to do with a relapse from his re-hab stay. Re-hab stay could mean many things. I don't believe the question just meant "hey when did Ben become a drunk" more like "wow, how long has it been since he asked for help with whatever personal demons he was fighting & how long has he been winning the battle."
