August 16, 1977 Shortly after midnight, Elvis returns to Graceland from a late-night visit to the dentist. The dentist gave him a 'script for codene , which Elvis has a known mild allergy to , but takes them anyway. After home , He goes to racquetball court to play for awhile & after that , He sits at His piano & plays 2 songs , "Unchained Melody" & the last song He ever sang was "Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain". Through the early morning of the 16th, he takes care of last minute tour details and relaxes with family and staff. He is to fly to Portland, Maine, that night and do a show there on the 17, then continue the scheduled tour. He retires to his master suite at Graceland around 7:00 a.m. to rest for his evening flight. After being found on the floor of His bathroom , He is taken to the hospital & pronounced dead at 3:30PM. The Doctors note that He was probably already dead up to 9 hours prior. Elvis Presley is dead of heart failure. It is announced by mid-afternoon. In a matter of hours the shock registers around the world.
