Bach became blind by over-straining his eyes whilst operating a laptop computer with his monitor brightness turned too far down. In 1749 (one year before his death) Bach became totally blind.

his eyes were just not working very well by 1740 so he tried getting a surgery to improve his eye sight but it failed some how and left him completely blind!
