apl.de.ap. and will.i.am. have been rapping together since they met in high school. They created a band named Atban Klann with two other musicians: DJ Motiv8 and Mookie Mook. In 1995, after the founder of the record label they were with passed away, Mookie Mook and DJ Motiv8 left the band, and together, Will and apl found another member: Jamie Gomez, AKA, Taboo. They then together changed the band name to the Black Eyed Peas. They released an 2 albums after that; Behind the Front and Bridging the Gap. In 2003, Fergie was alerted that the Black Eyed Peas needed a female singer for their song Shut Up. Fergie joined the band later that year, but if you have ever noticed that Fergie rarely appears in Elephunk, that's why. Basically, the 'Black Eyed Peas' have been around since 1995, but the Black Eyed Peas as we know them have been together since 2003. Seriously, I did a geography/history paper on a famous Filipino and chose apl.de.ap and spent 4 days researching and writing about my favourite band and my favourite band member! Hope I helped.
