Actually, if David Archuletta marries two women, he will be excommunicated from his church. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (commonly called the "Mormon" church) has strictly prohibited polygamy (having more than one spouse) for over 120 years. Anyone who is found practicing polygamy is excommunicated. Excommunication means that he will be kicked out of the Church.
If David Archuletta plans on continuing to follow Mormonism, he will marry only one woman.

I don't know that any of the more popular Mormon singers quit to go on missions. Popular Mormon singers such as David Archuleta, Brandon Flowers, Gladys Knight, and Donny Osmond did not (or have not as yet) served missions. Other Mormon singers who have served missions did not quit the music industry but continued recording when their mission was over.
