The Searchers are an English beat group formed in 1959. In their 53 years as a band they have seen 13 band members on their lineup at one time or another. Currently, there are only four members; John McNally (1959-present), Scott Ottaway (2010-present), Spencer James (1986-present) and Frank Allen (1964-present). Past members include Mike Pender (1959-1985), Tony Jackson (1959-1964), Norman McGarry (1959-1960), Chris Curtis (1960-1966), John Blunt (1966-1969), Billy Adamson (1969-1998), Eddie Rothe (1998-2010), 'Big Ron' Woodbridge (1959-1960) and Johnny Sandon (1960-1961)

Jonas knew the searchers were looking for him because he could hear the sound of their search planes overhead. The noise of the aircraft indicated that they were actively searching the area for him. Additionally, he realized that the searchers would likely be using the technology available to them, like heat sensors, to locate him. This heightened his sense of urgency and prompted him to take further action to evade capture.
