So really, when you get a guitar, choose the one that you like best and then find the best brand (like silvertone). Nope. It really doesn't matter. I think the reason most people seem to play acoustic first though is because of the cost. You won't have to go out and buy the guitar, and amp, and cables etc.. if you just get an acoustic.
