what do u mean? before the rev died or after? cuz after the rev died this guy mike portnoy from dream theater helped them tour and stuff till recently when avenged sevenfold wanted him to do what he wants not to force him so he left and now they dont know who the drummer will beAnswer 2The Rev was the first and original drummer of Avenged Sevenfold.After The Rev died, the band worked throughout 2010 with Mike Portnoy of Dream Theatre, however A7X didn't keep him after they felt that Mike was expecting to become an official member, even though it was never the plan. Mike even quit Dream Theatre in anticipation of joining A7X, despite it never being the plan. Unfortunately, relations between Mike and the band are taut as Mike had assumed too much too soon. Avenged Sevenfold wanted a drummer who was virtually unheard of so they could become a member of 'A7X' as a whole... whereas, they felt that if Mike had stayed, it would have forever been 'Avenged Sevenfold with Mike Portnoy' as he was already established.Since January 2011, the band have been working with former Confide drummer, Arin Ilejay. There is no current confirmation as to whether he will become an official/permanent member, however it is thought he will be as the band have expressed severe interest in keeping him. They now just wish to see if he is able to write an 'Avenged Sevenfold' album, as his previous ventures were in Christian bands.
