Simple Minds video for "Alive and Kicking" was shot in upstate NY in the Northern Catskill Mountains. The shot on the island was in a lake once known as North Lake. It is now two lakes (North and South Lakes) since the dividing land was removed. All that is left from that divide is the island. You can take a boat or canoe out to the island very easily. There is a public campground there known as North Lake which is located in Haines Falls , NY. The waterfall scene is about a 1-2 mile hike from North Lake and is known as Katterskill Falls. You can drive your car to within 1/2 mile and walk the rest of the way. Upstream the falls serve as a popular swimming hole for those who know how to find it. A couple of persons have fallen over that ledge over the years.
