The word "Guitar" originated from Greece, however the Guitar itself first originated in Spain - Andalusia. In the year 711 Arabic nations conquered Spain and with them they brought a stringed instrument called the "Ud" The Ud is one of the worlds oldest known stringed instruments. The Ud was later re designed by the Spanish, it slowly took the form of the modern day Flamenco of Classical Guitar. The Dominent Phyrigian scales used in Spanish music also derived from the Arabs. However, the Spanish created there own very unique sound.
