It's not that one is better than the other; it's just that they are different. The question should be, "which one is best for me?" In order to determine that, you must first acquire a vision; a specific and clearly articulated picture of the future you intend to create for yourself. This vision should be based on a passion for what you want to do and the benefit it will bring to others as well as yourself. Once you acquire that vision, your path will become clear.

What marks do you need to get into a radiology technician school?

The marks you need to get into a radiology technician school depend on the particular school to which you're applying. Call the school's admission office to ask that question. Rather than focusing on the marks you get, why not focus instead on learning all you can and learning as well as you can? The more you know, the better a job you can do, which will be better for both you and for the patients you encounter.

What is the best occupation ultrasound tech nursing dental hygienist radiology tech or medical assisting?

well i went to school for dental hygiene and sonogram tech i like sonogram better because i don't like going inside people's mouth and being a sonogram tech is much more rewarding and interesting. It depends on you though if you're the type of person who gets grossed out by spit it's not a good job for you i know that sonogram tech makes more than radiology tech and medical assistant but i think maybe sonogram tech and a dental hygienist maybe make about the same amount but sonogram tech is somewhat similar to radiology. But for me i would prefer ultrasound tech it's the perfect career you will make good money and it's in high demand.

The Career of a Radiology Technician?

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that employment for radiology technicians is expected to increase faster than average--about 17% through 2018. With an aging population, there will be increased need for diagnostic imaging tests. More and more diagnostic imaging testing will be needed to diagnosis and treat injuries and diseases that often become more prevalent as one ages. Radiology technicians are largely employed by hospitals, but some are employed by physicians and diagnostic imaging centers. Radiology technicians that are skilled in multiple diagnostic imaging procedures such as MR, CT and mammography will have better choice of employment opportunities as employers take advantage of multi-skilled employees to control costs.Radiology technicians, also referred to as radiologists, use x-ray equipment to diagnosis medical conditions. Radiologist also place nonradioactive material into a patient's vein to assist in diagnosis. Some radiologists specialize in particular diagnostic imaging procedures such as computerized tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and mammography. Medical sonographers, cardiovascular technicians and technologists and nuclear medicine technologists also perform procedures relating to diagnostic imaging.Because radiologists spend a good part of their day on their feet and have to maneuver patients for imaging, they should be physically fit and have stamina. Not only does a radiology technician handle imaging equipment, but he usually must record patient history into computers. The radiologist must be skilled on proper safety protocols and adhere to regulations to eliminate unnecessary radiation to the patient and themselves. They place lead shields, which are often heavy, on patients to protect areas of the body not being imaged.Certificate, associate's degree and bachelor's degrees are offered at most accredited radiology technician programs, with associate's degree being the most common educational prerequisite for the position. Programs are typically mixed with classroom study and clinical practice. Coursework includes anatomy, physiology, radiology imaging procedures, safety, radiation exposure, patient care, and radiation biology. One year certificate programs are available for those that want to specialize in imaging procedures such as CT or MRI.The salary that a radiologist technician earns depends upon his specialty. A radiologic technologist earns between $17.03 and $25.90 per hour while a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologist earns in the range of $24.48 to $28.05, according to PayScale.com as of September 2010. A Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist earns in the range of $16.61to $30.00 while a Mammography Technologist earns between $25.41 and $30.60 per hour.

Tips to Help you in Selecting Radiology Technician Schools?

Playing an important role in medical diagnosis and the treatment of patients, radiology technicians or radiographers assist doctors with performing x rays, Computerized Tomography (CT) scans and Magnetic Resonance Imagery (MRI). The educational requirements for becoming a technician in radiology varies depending on your experience and the type of career path you wish to pursue. Ranging from one to four years, schools offer radiology technician training programs at the bachelor’s and associate degree and certificate levels. Hospital staff that have on-the-job training may do certificate-level radiology programs while the longer programs prepare students for specialist areas and more in-depth training as well as better paying positions. Although not a requirement to get a radiology technician job, you should get certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as well as complete Continuation Education (CE) to keep current on technological advancements and developments. When looking for schools that offer radiology technician programs, here are some things you should consider. •Enroll in a program that is accredited by the Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT). •Other organizations which are accredited include Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Regional Institutional Accrediting Agencies and Conjoint Accreditation Services of the Canadian Medical Association. •Schools which are involved in research and receive funding from government and medical agencies may have more resources to offer in your training. These schools are often known for their excellent resources and leadership in radiology research and this may give you an edge when applying for a job. •Radiology technician institutions, which network as well as partner with a hospital or other healthcare facilities, may offer a wealth of resources for internship experience and they may provide opportunities for employment. •Online or distance training schools for radiology technicians are becoming popular and if you are considering this avenue, you should check so see that the online programs are accredited by the JRCERT. •Select a school based on the area of specialty you wish to pursue and the career you wish to follow, whether as a supervisor or an educator. •Institutions, which provide hands-on training with up-to-date equipment and technology offer valuable training to students.

Can you become a radiologist by going to a private radiologist tech program and than go do medical school or is it just better to do the 4 yr undergrad than attend medical school?

You cannot go to medical school unless you have taken a long list of prerequisite college classes (organic chemistry 1 and 2, organic chemistry lab, general chemistry 1 and 2, general chemistry lab, physics 1 and 2, physics lab, biology 1 and 2, and biology lab 1 and 2). You cannot take these at a radiology tech program. Theoretically you could get accepted to medical school without a college degree, but you still need to have taken these classes. Thus, for all practical purposes if your ultimate goal is to go to medical school, a 4 year degree should be your path. Also, medical school admission committees tend to like applicants with a diverse range of experiences and coursework. If your background coursework is almost all specific information related to x-rays this might not be so desirable. To become a radiologist you need to be an MD first (4 years) followed by 5 years of residency training in radiology. Even if you went to radiology tech school first it has no bearing on ability to enter radiology as a specialty.
