Iggy Pop
They could be considered punk rock, but are really more pop punk.
No, punk started in the mid-to-late sixties with the Velvet Underground, The Stooges, and The MC5, had its heyday in the seventies with The Ramones, The Heartbreakers, The Dead Boys, Richard Hell and the Voidoids, The Sex Pistols, The Clash, etc., etc., and was over by the early eighties. There were still punk bands around -- The Ramones, for example, continued touring well into the nineties -- but punk as a movement was over by 1982, at the latest.
well.... my belief is that they can be considered punk but only their early material. their first album, three imaginary boys, is definitely not the type of music that the cure is known for. it is "light" punk, or pop punk if you will.
James Brown is considered the "Godfather of Soul" and was born on May 3rd.
I think she isn't considered a punk singer. She is more of a pop singer though she does sing more punk songs in her band NO DOUBT.
